We have included below a selection of our high profile and/or notable cases that we have been involved in :-

R v C - Maidstone Crown Court - Represented a client who was unhappy with his previous solicitors and transferred to our firm.  Acquittal secured for shoplifting.

R v D - Croydon Crown Court - Client acquitted after trial of importing Class A drugs.  Robust defence advanced and police intelligence sought on the operation of organised gangs importing drugs through airports using corrupt staff and officials. Jury returned a unanimous verdict of not guilty.

R v O - Guildford Crown Court - After clarifying with the Prosecution the scale of the mortgage fraud which alleged over 300 fraudulent mortgage applications, the defendant pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a Suspended Sentence Order and not immediate custody.
 
R v B - Guildford Crown Court - Defendant was charged with murder following an altercation at a family wedding where a punch was thrown causing a male to hit his head on the ground which resulted in this male's death.  The client was found not guilty of Murder.
 
R v M - Guildford Crown Court - The defendant's Labrador was accused of biting a woman whilst on a common in Surrey and was charged with allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control. Kate Lyon instructed a highly experienced dog behavioral expert Candy D'Sa and the Prosecution accepted the Labrador was not dangerous and offered no evidence in this case.

R v C - Guildford Crown Court – Very lengthy matter involving a complainant who alleged she was raped by her partner. The defence of consent was relevant.  The case concluded in the Crown Prosecution Service offering no evidence and the Judge declaring a formal finding of Not Guilty. 

R v W - Guildford Crown Court - The defendant was charged with the Rape of a child under 13 years of age.  The Complainant alleged that sex took place between her and the accused when she was only 12.  There were complex issues in this case, particularly given the vulnerabilities of both the client and the complainant who made the allegation.  The Client was acquitted.
 
R v R - Guildford Youth Court - Young male charged with rape was acquitted after a trial at Guildford Youth Court. The allegation involved the rape of a female complainant in her home address.

R v S - Guildford Crown Court – Instructed to represent this client on a privately paid basis.  Queen’s Counsel and Junior Counsel were also instructed.  The client was a high level civil servant accused of Attempted Rape and 2 sexual assaults.  The client was subsequently acquitted after trial of Attempted Rape and one of the sexual assaults. High profile case. Widely reported. 

 R v J - Winchester Crown Court – We defended allegations of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs in a 55 day trial involving cut-throat defence and covert recording by a co-defendant of an alleged confession. The defendant was charged with both supplying and conspiracy to supply cocaine and heroin, but was acquitted.

R v F - Isleworth Crown Court – A young male was charged with Possession of a Prohibited Firearm under Section 1 of the Firearms Act, which carries a mandatory sentence of 5 years imprisonment for an adult and 3 years for a client aged 16.  The Crown alleged this firearm had also been used in an attempted murder.  A firearms expert was instructed and a report was served which resulted in the Prosecution offering no evidence against client and all proceedings were dismissed.

R v T - Guildford Crown Court - Acted for a step father accused of Attempting to Murder his step son.  Also charged with Attempted Grievous Bodily Harm.  The matter proceeded to trial.  Client acquitted on all counts.

R v D - Court Martial, Kosovo – We represented one of three Paratrooper corporals, alleged to have shot and murdered two armed men in Pristina, Kosovo. After a two-week preliminary enquiry, in which the soldiers had claimed to have been acting in self-defence, the Army Prosecuting Authority resolved not to charge the men with any offence.

R v C - Winchester Crown Court - Acted for a defendant charged with exposing himself to children under the age of 13.  This case was particularly delicate and complicated by the fact that the client had been viciously assaulted himself months after the alleged exposure, said to be a revenge attack. Defendant was acquitted.

R v H - Winchester Crown Court - Lengthy trial of eight defendants alleged to be involved in a conspiracy to supply drugs. Was the only defendant to be acquitted.

R v K - Guildford Crown Court - Acted for defendant charged with Rape after mistaking co-worker for his partner.  Client acquitted after trial.  High profile case.  Widely reported.

R v A Guildford Crown Court – Client charged with Possession of two shotguns without a certificate.  A Firearms expert was instructed and prepared a report that outlined these shotguns were over 90 years old and therefore should be considered antique.  This being the case that the shotguns did not require a certificate.  On considering this report and our representations, the Prosecution offered no evidence.

R v D - Guildford Crown Court - Acted for client charged with sexual assault on his adult daughter.  Client denied the charges in their entirety.  Evidence was obtained to dispute the Complainant’s account and this was put to her at trial.  The Client was acquitted.

R v B - Winchester Crown Court - Acted for defendant charged with rape of his ex partner. Defendant acquitted.

R v B - Basingstoke Magistrates Court - The defendant pleaded guilty to an offensive communications offence after posting a racist comment on Facebook in relation to the death of 3 year old. This was a high profile case and aggravated by virtue of the defendant being a serving soldier. However, mitigation was successful and he was spared an immediate custodial sentence.

R v E  - Reading Crown Court - Acted for Company Director charged with substantial VAT evasion and forgery. Suspended sentence imposed.

R v F - Winchester Crown Court - Acted for ex US Military Pilot charged with obtaining pilot's licence fraudulently, through the use of forged licences, references and other documents. Defendant obtained employment flying passenger planes in and out of the UK.  High profile case, widely reported.

R v A - Southwark Crown Court - Acted for one of the principal defendants charged in a £10 million banking fraud spanning 8 years and involving multiple accounts set up in false identities through use of fraudulently obtained birth certificates and passports. Substantial and complex confiscation issues involving criminal property located in overseas jurisdictions and/or held through use of offshore trusts. Very High Cost Case (VHCC).

R v W - Guildford Crown Court - Acted for Russian Escort girl charged with murder of elderly accountant. Defendant convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 3 years imprisonment.  High profile case, widely reported.

R v G - Winchester Crown Court - Acted for Company Director facing allegations of fraud and false accounting in relation to the provision of logistics services to major US (Nasdaq quoted) telecommunications company. Complexity of disclosure issues raised concerning company's accounting practices subsequent to its filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in US resulted in prosecution eventually offering no evidence against the defendant.

R v M - Winchester Crown Court - Acted for a defendant charged with multiple offences of sexually touching of his 5 year old son. Following legal argument, the entire interview of the complainant was excluded from the prosecution evidence which resulted in the prosecution offering no evidence against the defendant.

R v E - Guildford Crown Court - Acted for defendant charged with manslaughter following an incident at Guildford Train Station resulted in deceased falling between a departing train and platform.  High profile case.  Widely reported.
 
R v C - Guildford Crown Court - Acted for defendant charged with Manslaughter after the death of his daughter from swine flu two years after he had previously pleaded guilty to shaking her inflicting GBH injuries.  Involved substational complex medico-legal issues in relation to baby shaking syndrome and causation.  2 years imprisonment imposed.  Widely reported.  High profile case.
 
R v M - Hove Crown Court - Acted for defendant charged with rape and other sexual offences against 11 young boys aged 8-15.  Involved the creation of false psueodynoms in order to faciliate grooming several of the victims over the internet.  High profile case.  Widely reported.
  
R v S - Winchester Crown Court - Acted for Polish defendant charged with three others with Manslaughter of co-worker, coupled with failed charge of Perverting the Course of Justice.  Medical causation issues could not support the principal charge and Crown offered plea to ABH.
 
R v H - Liverpool Crown Court - Acted for defendant charged, with others, with Conspiracy to Import 22 tonnes of Class A and B drugs with street value of £120m.  The conspiracy involved the establishment companies and offices in Manchester and Bolton as fronts to facilitate the importation.  Prosecuted by SOCO. High profile case.  Widely reported

R v J - Guildford Crown Court – Acted for a client charged with of over 80 allegations of a sexual nature made by 9 separate complainants. Surrey Police dedicated a team of officers to work on this case alone, named Operation Quenelle.  This was a very complex and sensitive case due to the nature of the allegations, the many Complainants and the amount of evidence served in this case. High profile case. Widely reported. 

R v T – Lewes Crown Court - Lengthy trial of five defendants charged with conspiracy to control prostitutes and trafficking for sexual exploitation. Taylor Street represented two of the key members of this gang.  The Crown represented that this was an international Prostitution ring trafficking young women from Hungary into the United Kingdom. High profile case. Widely reported. 

R v M - Southwark Crown Court - Acted for a local businessman who was charged with Intimidating a Prosecution Witness.  The Crown accepted a plea to Harassment and the Crown withdrew the Witness Intimidation charge.  The client received a low level community penalty. 

R v F - Guildford Crown Court – Defendant worked as a Carer for an elderly patient.  Defendant accused of fraudulently obtaining money from her patient.  Defendant pleaded guilty and received a Suspended Sentence.  Extensive mitigation was put forward by our in house advocate on behalf of the client.  This sentence was well outside the guidelines for this type of offence.  The starting point for sentencing was an immediate custodial of 2 years.

R v G - Southampton Crown Court – Young client charged with an offence of Arson with Intent to Endanger life.  The client was mentally unwell.  Psychiatrists were instructed to prepare the necessary reports.  The Crown withdrew the more serious Arson charge replacing it with Criminal Damage by fire.  In sentencing, the Court imposed a Hospital Order which resulted in the client receiving the appropriate mental health treatment.

R v A - Winchester Crown Court – Our defendant faced an allegation of conspiracy to smuggle cigarettes involving covert recordings and issues of Bengali dialect. One million cigarettes were seized by HM Revenue and Customs. The trial lasted 6 weeks. Although sentenced, our defendant received a short sentence (12 months) in comparison with those given to the co-defendants (over 4 years imprisonment).

R v “Miss X” - Guildford Crown Court - We represented this widely-publicized 3-week trial of a 14 year-old schoolgirl, charged with wounding with intent. She was accused of stabbing a co-pupil in the eye, head and back with a pair of scissors in the school grounds.

R v P - Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey) – In 2007, a five-week trial took place in which the two defendants were charged with the murder, in 2000, of an elderly man; the case depended in part on facial mapping and DNA evidence. Although the defendants were convicted after 7 days of deliberations, their convictions were quashed by the Court of Appeal in 2008, and a retrial ordered. That retrial was heard over an 8-week period in the summer of 2009, with the jury unable to reach a verdict. A third trial was due to commence in June 2010, but on the opening day, the prosecution indicated for the first time, their willingness to accept a guilty plea to manslaughter from each defendant; such pleas were duly entered.


R v C - Winchester Crown Court – Appeared as trial counsel for a long standing client for one count of blackmail which was linked to an allegation of murder. Client was acquitted of blackmail and immediately released.


R v M - Guildford Crown Court, 2015 – Appeared as trial counsel for an elderly man alleged to have robbed a house mate. The housemate was stabbed a number of times with a kitchen knife during the robbery. The client was convicted but received a 2 year prison sentence suspended for two years.

R v S - Winchester Crown Court, 2014 – Appeared as trial counsel for a client alleged to be involved in a long running street fight along with his son and 2 of his sons friends. Client and one other acquitted of affray 3 others convicted.

R v W - Reading Crown Court, 2014 – Appeared for client with severe learning difficulties and an assessed IQ of 54. Was able to assist and advise the defendant in regards to 2 serious allegations of burglary of a dwelling. Sentenced to a 12 month prison sentence suspended for 18 months.

R v E - Reading Crown Court, 2014 – Appeared for a client who entered guilty pleas to a series of gang related armed street robberies, culminating in a violent aggravated burglary. Defendant received a cumulative sentence of 11 years and 6 months imprisonment. Reduced on appeal.

R v B - Winchester Crown Court, 2013 – Appeared as trial counsel for a client alleged to be involved in a planned group robbery. Defendant acquitted despite co-defendants guilty plea.

R v M, Winchester Crown Court, 2013 – Appeared as trial counsel for a female client alleged to have indecently assaulted two young boys. Defendant acquitted after trial.

R v C - Winchester Crown Court, 2012 – Appeared as trial counsel for a 16 year old female involved in a complex conspiracy to burgle involving 7 other all of whom were convicted. Client was acquitted after trial.
